LaRue Bocarde Daulton
Passed away peacefully in Carmichael, California on Thursday, August 22, 2002 at the age of 100. Dearly beloved wife for 49 years of the late Roy Bocarde and for seven years of the late Rev. Howard B. Daulton; beloved foster mother of Dagmar Collins of Sun City; adored stepmother of Joyce Wisner, Shirley Hammons, Patsy Daniels, Sheila Chilton, Howard B. Daulton, II and Richard Daulton; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A native of Sacramento, Kentucky, she was raised in rural Kentucky and always referred to herself as a "Kentucky Hillbilly!". Trained as a nurse in Kentucky, she moved to California and quickly noted there was a brighter future in the field of beauty salons. A graduate of California College of Beauty in the early 1930's, at her peak in this field, she owned 34 beauty shops (LeRoy Gordon Beauty Salons) from Napa to Los Angeles. At the time of her retirement, she gave each manager their own shop if they so desired. Always active in her church and Bible study, her faith was of prime importance. She was a longtime member of San Rafael Chapter No. 215, O.E.S., where she served as Worthy Matron in 1953. She was also a member of Ladies of the Nile; active with the National American Legion Auxiliary and active in the "Girls State" program and numerous other organizations. Generosity was the trademark of her life. She was an expert cake decorator, obtaining the title of Master Cake Decorator, adored all crafts -- crocheting, knitting, china painting, sewing, gardening, flower arranging, and many more. She received great joy in giving her handiwork to family and friends. Friends are invited to attend Funeral Services on Friday, August 30, 2002 at 10:00 AM at the DANIELS CHAPEL OF THE ROSES, 1225 Sonoma Avenue, Santa Rosa with Pastor Dave Hatton of Eskaton Community Church and Officers of Rose Valley Chapter No. 33, O.E.S. officiating. Private Interment, Cypress Lawn Cemetery, Colma. If desired, donations in her memory may be made to "The Resident Assistance Fund of Eskaton Village," 3939 Walnut Avenue, Carmichael, CA 95608. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2002 from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM at the DANIELS CHAPEL OF THE ROSES.
