Edward M. Eastland

Edward McDougall Eastland was a retired research chemist. He worked for Rainer Beer Distillers, Bechtel Corp. and most recently the U.S. Treasury Department in the Alcohol, Tobacco and Tax Division.
Mr. Eastland died June 2 at home at 76.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. this Saturday at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church in San Rafael.
Mr. Eastland was born in Brooklyn and lived in San Rafael.
He graduated from the University of Washington.
During World War II, he served in the 7th Regiment of the National Guard and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal.
His memberships included the United States Chess Federation and the Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Stamp collecting was among his activities.
Mr. Eastland is survived by his wife, Cleo Eastland of San Rafael; a son, Roger Eastland of Petaluma; two daughters, Candace Fraser of San Rafael and Betsy Kahan of Nevada; and six grandchildren.
