CHARLES RAINS

Charles H. Rains, 78, died yesterday after collapsing while cutting branches in the yard of his home at 188 Prospect Drive, San Rafael.

An ambulance rushed Rains to San Rafael General Hospital, where he died on arrival. He had suffered from a heart condition for the past few years.

Rains was a retired delivery driver for a San Francisco furniture company where he worked for 35 years. He and his wife of 42 years, Mabel, moved to Marin about a year ago. He was a native of California.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son Earl Lee Rains, of San Rafael.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Harry Williams Mortuary, San Rafael.
