Courtney (Red) Cole Dies At 52
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow for Courtney (Red) Cole, a resident of Marin County for 26 years, at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael.
Cole, 52, was stricken by a heart attack at about 6 a.m. Saturday aboard his commercial fishing boat at the San Rafael Yacht Club. He was dead on arrival at Marin General Hospital.
Born and reared in Seattle, Wash., he began driving a truck there at 13. He came to Marin in 1946, after serving in World War II. Cole was a truck driver for McPhail’s in San Rafael for 22 years.
His widow, Rubyette (Wills) Cole, owns and operates R and J Beauty Salon on Fourth Street in San Rafael.
Cole, of 125 Lowell Avenue, had been engaged in commercial fishing on weekends for the past year.
He was a member of the Teamster’s Union and the Loch Lomond Club.
