Marin Contractor George Pope Dies
A Requiem High Mass for George Pope, 83-year-old San Rafael house builder, will be offered at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow at St. Raphael’s Church in San Rafael.
Pope died Saturday night at his home at 257 1/2 Glen Park avenue, San Rafael, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Clara, a daughter, Mrs. William Bell and a son, Edward Pope, both of San Rafael, and by four grandsons. He is also survived by three brothers and a sister living in the Bay Area who were members of a family of 13 children.
He was a native of Canada and a resident of Marin County for 35 years in business for himself. Pope built a number of houses and then rented them.
The Rosary will be recited at 8 o’clock this evening at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael.
