Mrs. Opal Johnson Dies At 90
Funeral for Mrs. Opal Johnson, 90, longtime resident of Novato, who died Tuesday in a local hospital after a long illness, will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Redwood Chapel funeral home in Novato.
Mrs. Johnson, of 2144 Center Road, had lived in Novato for 37 years. Her husband was Henry James Johnson, a carpenter, died in 1955.
Prior to coming to Novato, they had lived in Fort Bragg. Mrs. Johnson, who was born in Iowa, had been a school teacher before her marriage.
She is survived by two sons, Ivan and Glenn Johnson of Novato; two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Thompson of Sebastopol and Mrs. Lola Mae Evans of Dayton, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Schlee of Eureka and Mrs. Ethel Cecil of Farmington, Iowa; a brother, Irwin Sherrick of Newton, Iowa; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild.
Burial will be Saturday in Sebastopol.
