Hamilton C. Martins Dies At 73
Hamilton C. Martins of Inverness, a resident of Marin for 60 years, died yesterday in a local hospital after a long illness. He was 73.
A native of St. George, the Azores Islands, he was a retired dairyman, trucker and employee of the county road department.
He was a charter member of San Anselmo Post No. 179 of the American Legion; Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks No. 901, Petaluma, and of the Tamalpais Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars; past president of the IDESST, Point Reyes Station, and a former member of the Marin County Republican Central Committee.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; three children, Mrs. Alice Fistolera of Daly City, Mrs. Bernice Vandervort of San Lorenzo and Hamilton C. Martins Jr. of San Rafael; two sisters, Mrs. Zena Mar of San Rafael and Mrs. Valdemira Thompson of San Francisco, and two granddaughters.
Requiem Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Raphael's Church, San Rafael. Entombment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. tomorrow, preceded at 7:30 p.m. with American Legion services conducted by San Anselmo Post No. 179. The family prefers contributions to the American Cancer Society.
