Russell Mattson
A funeral for Russell Mattson, a San Rafael carpenter and contractor, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Chapel of the Hills, San Anselmo.
Mattson, 62, died at home Friday after a long illness.
He was born in Eureka, Utah, and came to San Francisco in 1923. He was self-employed as a residential carpenter and contractor for 45 years. He moved to Marin in 1976. He was a member of Carpenters Union Local No. 22 of San Francisco.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret J. Mattson of San Rafael; two daughters, Diane Dowling of San Rafael and Peggy Mattson of Redwood City; a son, William R. Mattson of Novato; two sisters, Lucille Harris of Cloverdale and Lois Gallagher of Lakeport; three brothers, Robert Mattson of Redwood City, Carlos Mattson of Colma and Arthur Mattson of San Francisco; and two grandchildren.
Friends may call at the mortuary between 6 and 9 p.m. Sunday.
The family prefers memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity.
