George Furlong, Well Known Educator, Dead

George Furlong, brother of Mr. Robt. Furlong, of San Rafael, died at his residence in Oakland, January 5th, after an illness of five days.

Mr. Furlong was an educator of note and the author of several text books. He was at one time superintendent of the Santa Clara and of the Monterey schools, and was superintendent of the State Industrial School of San Francisco when that institution was started. He has been prominent in educational work in the state for thirty-three years and his whole life abounded in good works.
