George A. Sherman
George A. Sherman of Sebastopol, a former Marin resident for 33 years, died Wednesday at a Sonoma convalescent hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 70.
Sherman was a Pennsylvania native and moved to Marin in 1944. He was a building contractor in the county for 33 years before retiring in 1977.
He moved to Sonoma County following his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Sherman; a daughter, Barbara Crikos of Sebastopol; two stepdaughters, Shirley Esplin of Tiburon and Nadine Alvord of Placentia, Orange County; two brothers, Bill Sherman of Pennsylvania and Jessie Kelly of Houston, Texas; a sister, Mary Lane of New York; and 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Parent mortuary in Petaluma. Inurnment will be private at Cypress Hill Memorial Park, Petaluma.
The family prefers memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society.
