Mattie Hails

Mrs. Mattie R. Hails of 1118 Sir Francis Drake Boulevard, Kentfield, died yesterday in a local hospital after a long illness.

Mrs. Hails, 76, and a native of Missouri, had lived in Santa Barbara and Sacramento before moving to the Bay Area after the death of her husband, Charles. She resided in Kentfield eight years.

A Stanford University graduate, she was active in University Women’s Club in Sacramento.

She leaves a daughter, Mrs. Stewart Macondray of San Anselmo; a son, Richard Hails of Burlingame; two sisters, Robin Osborne of Santa Barbara and Mrs. Julian Williams of Woodland, and seven grandchildren.

Private funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Keaton’s in San Rafael. The family prefers that tributes be contributions to the Marin County Cancer Fund.
