AMELIA FELIS
Amelia Charlotte Felis, 90, a 50-year resident of San Anselmo, died yesterday in a local hospital after a long illness.
A native of Virginia City, Nev., where she grew up during the silver mining days, Mrs. Felis moved to San Francisco in 1895 where she was married to Frederick Carl Rickborn. Shortly after the 1906 earthquake and fire, the couple moved to San Anselmo into a home her husband had built at 66 Elm Avenue.
After her first husband’s death in 1910, she married Thomas W. Felis. He died in 1928.
Mrs. Felis, who was known as “Mom Mela” to her neighbors in San Anselmo. was a past president and charter member of the Landsdale School Parent-Teacher Assn., the Ladies Guild of the Second Presbyterian Church and the Tamalpais Women’s Center.
She is survived by two sons, Walter C. Rickborn of Visalia and Frederick V. Rickborn of San Anselmo.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Keaton’s Mortuary, Fifth and E streets, San Rafael. Inurnment will be private.
