JOSEPHINE MATTHEWS

Requiem Mass for Josephine Miranda Matthews, former Petaluma rancher, will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent De Paul Church, Petaluma.

Mrs. Matthews, 73, died Saturday at Napa Hospital after a brief illness. She was a native of the Azore Islands and moved to Marin County at the age of 11.

Mrs. Matthews had operated a dairy ranch on I Street Extension, Petaluma, for 24 years. She moved to Napa 12 years ago.

She is survived by a daughter, Mary Matthews of Napa; a son, Manuel Matthews of Cotati; a brother, Manuel De Souza of Petaluma; two sisters, Mary De Souza and Frances Azevedo of Petaluma; and a grandson.

Recitation of the Rosary will be at 8 p.m. today at the Sorensen Funeral Home, Petaluma. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery.
