FRANCIS FUGATE
Corte Madera resident
Francis Milton Fugate, a Corte Madera resident for 51 years, died Dec. 21 after a brief illness. He was 82.
Born in Tulare County, Mr. Fugate was raised in Sacramento Valley. He was a graduate of Heald Business College and served as a master sergeant during World War II. During the war, he was selected to lead a project to set up a new computer operations department in Seattle. His 42-year career with the U. S. Government included serving as computer operations supervisor for the Department of Defense.
He was a past commander of the American Legion Post #313 and was active with numerous charities, including the American Heart Association.
He is survived by his wife, Yolanda Fugate of Corte Madera; daughter Barbara Fugate of San Francisco; son Stephen Fugate of Novato; sister Ethel; and one grandson.
A vigil service will be held at Daphne Funeral Home, 601 Tamalpais Drive, Corte Madera on Monday at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Larkspur. The interment will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
