James A. Graham, Sr.
Passed peacefully at home last Sunday evening. He was a resident of San Rafael for 31 years after moving from Munhall, Pennsylvania with his family. Mr. Graham had more that 35 years of distinguished service to his country. He enlisted in the Army at age 19 in 1942. He served in Europe where he received a battlefield commission while fighting with the 94th Inf. Div. He also served in Japan during the occupation. In Korea, he served with the 82nd Airborne and the 1st Cavalry. He went on to join the Military Police and was a champion sharpshooter with the US Army Advanced Marksmanship Unit. His dedication to duty and commitment to his fellows was rewarded with many commendations for service and valor, including the Silver Star, four Bronze Stars and five Purple Hearts. In 1958, he joined the Treasury Department where he continued to serve his country with distinction as a Special Agent of the ATF until he retired in 1978. He served his community as a Mason and Knight Templar and still found time to raise six children. He was, to his family, a hero in war, a hero in peace, and a true hero in our lives.
