Ian F. "Scotty" Hardie
Of Eugene, Oregon died August 29th, 2002 of cancer. Mr. Hardie was born April 18th, 1914 in Nelson, British Columbia, to John and Mary Young-Walker Hardie. He married Louise Kohler in San Francisco on September 20th, 1952. He lived in Nelson, British Columbia from 1914-1920, Ayr, Scotland 1920-1922, Perth, West Australia 1922-1929, Honolulu, HI 1929, Vancouver, British Columbia 1930-1944, San Francisco, CA 1944-1958, San Rafael, CA 1958-1998. In 1998 he moved to Eugene, Oregon. He graduated from the University of California - Berkeley in 1936. In his early career, he worked as a Plant Manager for National Metals and then for Bank of America, retiring as vice president in 1979 after 30 years with the Bank. He was a member of the Bank of America Philatelic Society, Marin County Rod & Gun Club as well as Brussels Rod and Gun Club. He was awarded the Boy Scouts of America Silver Beaver; Boy Scouts of America Wood badge and the Australian King Scout (equivalent to BSA Eagle Scout.) He enjoyed stamp collecting; volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America and teaching Hunter Safety for the California Department of Fish and Game for 35 years. He and his wife enjoyed traveling. Survivors include his wife, sons Peter Hardie of Spokane, Washington and David Hardie of Eugene, Oregon. Two daughters, Mardel Richmond of Port Angeles, Washington and Sandra Friedemann of Petaluma, California, and six grandchildren. No Services were held. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Sacred Heart, 1121 Fairfield Street, Eugene, OR 97402. Rest-Haven Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Eugene, Oregon is in charge of arrangements.
