Norman C. Ortman, Jr.- 1919~2002
Norman passed on September 25, 2002 in Santa Rosa, California. He is survived by Dorothy Wheeler Ortman, his wife for 55 years. He was a devoted husband and father. He is also survived by his sons, Howard S. Ortman of San Anselmo, and Norman F. Ortman of Santa Rosa and four grandchildren. "Bud" as he was known to his friends and family was born at home in Mill Valley, September 26, 1919. Those who knew Bud appreciated his warmth, humility, and honesty. He attended Tamalpais High, College of Marin, and Stanford University. His early working years involved labor relations and business management with Poultry Producers of Central California. Before his retirement he was a realtor in Marin County. He loved the outdoors, trout fishing, playing bridge and wilderness experiences. He was athletic and played college football and participated in track and field. He was a life member and past president of the Mill Valley Tennis Club. Following his retirement he played golf at Peacock Gap. Norman was active for many years in the Mill Valley Historical Society serving as president and board member. Family and Friends are invited to a Memorial Service Monday, October 7th at 11:00 a.m. at Daniels Chapel of the Roses in Santa Rosa. Donations may be made in Norman's memory to a charity of your choice.
