Earll T. Riley Jr.
A private funeral was held today for Earll T. Riley Jr., long time San Rafael stockbroker, who died Friday in a local hospital after a lengthy illness.
Riley, 72, was born in San Francisco, the son of an early-day California family, He attended the old Potter School for Boys and then the University of California, Berkeley.
Before World War II he was a stockbroker in San Francisco. During the war he worked as a civilian on government contracts.
In 1945 he and his family moved to Marin County and Riley became associated with a San Rafael stock firm, formerly called Irving Lundborg and more recently, Birr Wilson & Co.
An avid golfer, Riley was a long-time member of the Meadow Club.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of the family home in San Rafael; one daughter, Hope Nordby of Eugene, Ore.; one son, Earll T. Riley III of Richmond, Va.; one brother, George Riley of Sonoma, and six grandchildren.
The family prefers memorial contributions to the Cancer Society.
