Passed away on February 19, 2002 at Marin General Hospital at 82 years of age. A long time resident of Marin County, he was born in Taunton, Massachusetts, served in the Air Force during WWII, and graduated from Northeastern University in Boston. In his professional life, he was first as an accountant for the federal government and then a CPA in Corte Madera.
He is survived by his sister, Phyllis Patenaude of Taunton, his wife, Joy Peterson-Short, daughters Susan May, Ardyn Schulte, Diane Keppel, and Anita Vedder and stepdaughters, Janice Kapral, Susan Anderson, and Carole Hyams. He is the grandfather of ten and great grandfather of four. His son, Dean (D.R.) passed away three years ago.
Prior to his stroke almost ten years ago, Dean was an enthusiastic gardener and fisherman, enjoying trips to Alaska and Hawaii to fish. He enjoyed taking cruises, traveling, playing bridge, and square dancing. He was a member of Novato Squares and a long time member of Buzzin' Boots.
The family requests no flowers, but if friends wish, a memorial in his name might be made to the American Heart Association, The Tomorrow Fund at the Tamalpais, in Greenbrae, or to a charity of your choice.
