William Strain, 80, Bolinas Native Dies Here Last Friday

Private funeral service was held last Monday afternoon from the Keaton Mortuary, San Rafael, for William Strain, who passed away at his home in San Rafael last Friday, at 80 years of age. He was a member of a pioneer family of t his county, and at one time was a member of the state legislature representing Del Norte and Siskiyou counties. He had been ill for a long time, and for a number of years had been residing with his sister, Anna Strain. He also leaves two brothers, W. S. Strain of Red Bluff and E. R. Strain of Palo Alto.

Mr. Strain had been a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge of Crescent City for 54 years, where he lived 18 years between 1879 and 1897, while engaged in the dairy business.

While in the northern counties he was also U. S. Internal Revenue Collector for that territory. Before coming to Marin county he also lived in Red Bluff, where he was a member of the Knight Templars. He was born in Bolinas.
