Lourdes (Nina) Maņeru Laidas
Born in the Philippines in 1914 to a Spanish Basque family. Graduate of Assumption College in Manila. Resident of the Bay Area since 1950. She worked for Ansor Corp./Philippine Airlines for 30 years. Lived in Marin County for the past 20 years. Daily Mass attendant at Saint Sebastian's Parish. Active in Young at Heart. Dedicated member of the Arts and Crafts and Sew & Sews. Founding member of La Peņa, an Hispanic social club. Enthusiastic member of ALMA, Argentinean Ladies Mercy Association. Lover of music and a classically trained concert pianist. Supporter of San Francisco Opera for 30 years and the San Francisco and Marin County Symphonies for 20 years. Will be remembered for her boundless love and delight in family, friends, travel, music, food, wine, laughter and life in general. Most of all, she was a loving and devoted wife of Eugene Laidas, loving sister of Dolores Maņeru Arambúru of Madrid, cherished mother of Marie Laidas Sullivan and her husband Peter Sullivan, and the beloved Nana to Lara, David and Sean Sullivan. Preceded in death by sisters Carmen and Josephina and brother Gregorio. She was a friend to many and will be missed deeply by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Friends may call on Thursday, September 5th from 1:00 to 5:00 PM at Keaton's Mortuary at 1022 E Street In San Rafael. A Rosary Service will be held later that day at 6:30 PM at St. Sebastian's Church at 373 Bon Air Road in Greenbrae. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 6th at St. Sebastian's Church. Committal at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to St. Anthony's Foundation, 121 Golden Gate Ave., San Francisco, CA 94102 or to Hospice of Marin, 150 Nellen Ave., Corte Madera, CA 94925.
