JAMES VAN BUSKIRK
Died peacefully at home on September 26, 2001. He was 72 years old. He served in WWII and as a Navy pilot in Korea. He graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Jim was an avid skier. He and his wife, Maria, traveled the world skiing, but always returned to their beloved Lake Tahoe. He was an active member of St. John’s Episcopal Church where he had served on the vestry. He belonged to the Rotary Club of Ross Valley, the St. Andrew’s Society, and the International Explorer’s Club.
Jim settled in Ross 35 years ago where he and Maria raised their two daughters, Karen (husband Stanley Stern) and Kristina (husband Greg Hoffman). His survivors also include two grandsons, Jordan and Jack Stern, and step-granddaughters, Kim and Jessie Hoffman, his sister, Mary Jane Gram of Lacey, Washington, and her family. He will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, October 20 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Ross. A private family interment was held on October 7th. Donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Rotary Club of Ross Valley, P.O. Box 415, San Anselmo, CA. 94979-0415.
