Lela Smodene

A private service has been held for Lela Smodene of Greenbrae. Mrs. Smodene died last Thursday, Nov. 10, 1988, at The Tamalpais in Greenbrae. She was 94.

Mrs. Smodene was a native of Illinois. She had lived in Marin since the 1930s.

She was a retired schoolteacher and had taught at Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley for 40 years.

Mrs. Smodene is survived by a brother, Len Carpenter of Clinton, Iowa; a niece, Marilyn Dykstra of Fulton, Ill.; a nephew, Robert Carpenter of Clinton, and a grandnephew, James Bull, of Greenbrae.
