Albert James MacCarthy

Of Mill Valley passed away on February 1, 2002 at the age of 81. Al was born in San Francisco on February 4, 1920.

He is survived by his wife Iris of 56 years; sons, Michael MacCarthy of Santa Rosa, Greg MacCarthy of Mill Valley and daughter, Lynn Allen of San Rafael, daughters-in-law, Billie and Nancy MacCarthy and son-in-law Dr. Joe Allen. Grandfather to Steven, Larry, Michelle MacCarthy and Christopher Allen. Great-grandfather of Reis and Jessica MacCarthy, and brother of Battalion Fire Chief Charles MacCarthy, retired.

He proudly served in the U.S. Army in World War II, and was a Life Member of the Telephone Pioneers and a member of the United States Power Squadron. Al was a dedicated employee of Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company for 38 years.

At his request, no services will be held, however, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society of Hospice or Marin.
