Erna "Frankie" Longfellow
Erna "Frankie" Longfellow passed away October 26, 2002 at her home in Greenbrae, The Tamalpais. She was 85 years of age. Frankie, a prominent native Marinite, was schooled at Dominican Convent San Rafael, Katherine Branson School and she received an R.N. degree from The French Hospital School of Nursing in San Francisco. A world traveler and an avid champion golfer, she was a member of the People to People Golf Association of the U.S.A. She was a Captain of the Women's Annex at Meadow Club in 1953 when she pioneered their first Ladies Invitational. She still played and kept her membership at the San Francisco Golf Club. In 1997 she was awarded the National Philanthropy Award by the Northern California Presbyterian Homes. An honorary award was bestowed upon her for 38 years of uninterrupted service by the California State Real Estate Board. An original board member of the Marin Symphony, she continued to support its membership and drives. Frankie's affiliations were: The Northgate Group of the Marin Art and Garden Center, Marin Historical Museum, Fine Arts Museum, World Trade Club, San Francisco Golf Club, Sunny Hills, People to People Golf Association of the U.S.A., California State Board of Realtors, Marin Board of Realtors, Prudential Real Estate and the Jaguar Club. She is survived by a daughter, Ann Longfellow of Huntington Beach, and a stepson, Col. R.N. Longfellow of San Diego. Frankie enjoyed planning a party and entertaining and will be greatly missed.
