Charlotte C. Anderson

Sausalito – A participatory memorial service for Charlotte C. Anderson of Sausalito will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Unitarian Fellowship in San Rafael.

She died on Saturday at a San Francisco hospital after a brief illness. She was 74.

A native of Kasota, Minn., she had taught English for many years in schools in Minnesota and Illinois.

She attended Gustavus Adolphus College in Minnesota and the University of Illinois in Champaign.

She had been active in peace and civil rights movements throughout her life in Illinois and in Marin County.

She was a leader of the Marin chapter of the United Nations Association and was an active member and former board member of the Unitarian Fellowship in San Rafael.

She had lived in Sausalito for 1 1/2 years. Before that, she had lived in Novato since 1974, where she had moved from Champaign.

Mrs. Anderson is survived by her husband, Bert W. Anderson of Sausalito; two daughters, Roberta A. Ballard of Mill Valley and Christine A. Eskreis of La Grange, Ill.; two sisters, Olive C. Fitzke and Connie M. Stavenan, both of St. Peter, Minn.; a brother, Robert J. Anderson of Champaign, Ill.; and three grandchildren.

The family prefers contributions to the Fellowship of Reconciliation, American Civil Liberties Union or the Unitarian Fellowship of Marin.
