Mill Valley Man Suicides in Jail

Funeral service was held Monday afternoon at Mill Valley for Harold Anderson, 37, a resident of Mill Valley for eight years, who committed suicide last Friday night in his cell at th e city jail. Services were held from the Russell chapel, and interment took place in Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael.

Anderson, who was employed as a carpenter at Mare Island, leaves his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Anderson, and a young son.

Anderson was arrested while creating a disturbance at his home last Friday. Two hours after being locked up, Chief of Police James McGowan found the man dead. He had used his leather belt to hang himself from the top of the cell door.
