MACFARLAN, Mary Elizabeth -- 104 year old native San Franciscan, passed away in Pacifica on August 10, 2001. She was the loving grandmother of James and Lynn Macfarlan of Sonoma; loving great grandmother of Shannon and Scott Macfarlan of Sonoma; beloved step great grandmother of David and Petra Jacobson, Jeff and Linda Peterson all of Marin County and Ed Jacobson of Santa Rosa; and devoted God mother of Lorraine Ghilardi of Half Moon Bay. She is survived by six great-great grandchildren. She will be missed by numerous family and friends whose lives she has touched. She lived at Fourth and Minna with her parents and two brothers when the 1906 earthquake and fire forced them to camp out at Sixth and Brannan Sts. The family built and moved into a house on Mariposa St. on Potrero Hill. She married Harold Macfarlan, bore one son Verne and worked for Schwabacher and Co., a brokerage firm, from 1930 to 1962 when she retired to travel and spend summers at the Russian River family cabin at Guernwood Park Arrangements by the Neptune Society of San Francisco. The family will have a private scattering of the ashes at her request.
