MICHAEL M. MANNING
Mill Valley resident
Michael Marcus Manning died of cancer at Kaiser Hospital in San Rafael Tuesday. He was 55.
Mr. Manning was born in North Hollywood. He attended schools in Malibu, Long Beach and San Francisco. He had been a Mill Valley resident for the past 34 years.
He was a public accountant for 33 years. He worked for MARAD in San Francisco and began his practice in 1971.
In 1980, Mr. Manning and his partner, Thomas J. Carroll started their own accounting firm, Manning & Carroll.
He was a member of many organizations, including the Mill Valley Rotary Club, International Fellowship of Flying Rotarians, American Institute of CPAs, California Society of CPAs, Society of California Accountants, Aircraft Owners’ and Pilots’ Association, Marine Estate Planning Council and the Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Manning also enjoyed playing the saxophone and clarinet with a Dixieland jazz band and other groups.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis M. H. of Mill Valley; two sons, Michael G. of Mill Valley and Patrick F. of San Jose; two daughters, Phyllis E. of Mill Valley and Helen L. Darken of Novato; two sisters, Judith Clegg of South an Francisco and Hazel Powell of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and one grandchild.
Friends are welcome to visitation at Russell & Gooch in Mill Valley, Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Mill Valley Saturday at 7 p.m.
Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 151685, San Rafael, or to a charity of choice.
