Shirley Stein

Died peacefully at home in Terra Linda on January 30, 2002, after a long illness. She was 82 years of age.

Shirley was raised in Brooklyn, New York and attended Erasmus High School. During WWII, she worked as an executive assistant in New York's garment center.

She met and married Paul Stein, who survives her, in 1948. They were preparing to celebrate their 54th anniversary when she died. They originally made their home in Paterson, New Jersey, where they raised two sons, Irwin Stein of Novato and Edward Stein of Covington, Virginia. Both are attorneys. Shirley's family, especially her five grandchildren, meant "everything" to her.

Shirley and Paul moved to Terra Linda in 1986 to be closer to their grandchildren. She was active in the Sisterhood of Cong. Rodef Shalom, where she served on the Sisterhood Board. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, February 3rd, 2:30 PM at Cong. Rodef Shalom. Donations in her memory may be made to Cong. Rodef Shalom or Hospice of Marin.
