Aged Mill Valley Resident Struck by Auto on Highway

Alexander Calvert,70-year-old resident of Mill Valley, is at the Ross General Hospital in a serious condition, due to an auto accident last Friday evening, when he was struck by a car driven by Joseph Lucchini, of Sonoma, and rendered unconscious, with a fractured skull.

Calvert was walking along the highway at the time, and was bound for Sausalito. After being questioned by authorities, Lucchini was not held as it was believed Calvert contributed to his own injury by walking too close to the paved road and at a time of the evening when visibility, except directly in front of a car, is clear. ------------
The California Death Index states that he died Nov. 12, 1940 at the age of 72 years.
Born Alexander Cotton Calvert on January 1, 1868; mother’s maiden name was Cotton.
