LEWIS BAGLEY

Lewis N. Bagley, 55, of Alto, an employee of the Northwestern Pacific Railroad for the past 18 years, died in his sleep in Healdsburg Tuesday.

The engineer, who resided with his wife and son at 46 Plaza Drive, was to be awakened by co-workers to make his regular run from Healdsburg to Sonoma. They found him dead.

Bagley was a native of Weed, Siskiyou County. He worked at Marinship as a chipper and leadman from 1941 to 1944. He left that position to go to work as locomotive wiper for the railroad in June of 1944, and was promoted to engineer in 1949.

He had been a resident of Marin 20 years.

He is survived by his wife, Frances, and a son, Lewis N. Bagley Jr.

Bagley was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and the Marin Rod and Gun Club.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Russell and Gooch Mortuary, Mill Valley. Interment will be in Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael.

A Death Notice in the same paper says that he was also survived by a niece and nephew (unnamed).
