Mae Budworth Dies at Sixty

Succumbing to a cerebral hemorrhage which occurred in church on Sunday, Mrs. Mae Budworth passed away shortly after midnight on the day which she was to have celebrated her 60th birthday.

She and her husband owned and operated the Budworths’ grocery and school supply store at the foot of Litho St. and Mrs. Budworth continued to preserve the hospitality of the shop after her husband’s death 16 years ago.

Survivors of Mrs. Budworth include her two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Jewett and Mrs. Bessie Nissen. Her sisters are Mrs. Genivieve Capell of Sausalito, Mrs. Maud O’Connor of San Anselmo, Mrs. Agnes Ruess of Livermore, Miss Florence Donohue and Miss Katherine Donohue of San Francisco.

Her brothers are Martin (Frank) Donohue, county tax collector, and the late Emmett, John, James and Thomas Donohue. Her nephew, Donald F. Donohue, is serving with the Army Transport Service.

Mrs. Mae Budworth was the grandmother of Mary Anne, Joanne and Robert Jewett, and the late Judith Lee Nissen.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from Keaton’s Mortuary in Sausalito, while mass was said at 10 a.m. at the Star of the Sea Church. Burial took place at Holy Cross Cemetery in San Francisco, where the remains were laid beside those of her mother in the family plot.
