Tillman J. Farley, Cattle Dealer, Succumbs At 67

Tillman (Tillie) J. Farley, Nicasio cattle dealer, suffered a fatal heart attack yesterday afternoon as he was leaving the home of friends in Santa Venetia.

He had been under a physician’s care for a heart ailment for a year, but his death was unexpected. He was 67 years old.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tillman Joseph Farley Sr., who came to Marin County during the last century, starting a cattle ranch in Nicasio. Farley was born on the ranch and loved there all his life, except for military service during World War I.

When his father died, Farley operated the ranch with his brothers. After their death, his two nephews, Paul J. and Robert A. Farley, helped him.

Farley was the last surviving of eight children.

He was a member of Nicasio Parlor, Native Sons of Golden West; Nicasio Grove 42, United Ancient Order of Druids, and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine, and daughter, Edna Josephine Farley, at the family home; a son, Martin T. Farley, and two grandchildren of Petaluma.

A Requiem High Mass will be offered Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Raphael’s Church, with the cortege leaving Keaton’s Mortuary at 9:45 a.m. Committal will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at the Keaton chapel tomorrow at 8 p.m.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that he was the brother of the late Maylon, William, Lester and Frank Farley, Mrs. Mae Cheda, Mrs. Elizabeth Jones and Mrs. Sylvia Irving.
