Prosper Zaro, Old Larkspur Resident, Fatally Hit By Car
Prosper Zaro, 65, was buried in Fernwood Cemetery, Sausalito, on Wednesday, having been fatally injured Sunday night when struck by an automobile while crossing Nevada st., opposite Marinship.
Cavin Matthews, Marin City Negro, arrested by Sausalito police as driver of the death car, was charged with manslaughter and released from the county jail on $5000 bond.
Zaro lived in Marin for over 40 years. Old-timers remember him as a young man in the hose-cart days of fire fighting, as chief of the Larkspur Fire Department.
He engaged in the plumbing business in Larkspur for many years, and moved to Sausalito after the shipyard was started.
Zaro is survived by one son, RM 3-c Ernest Zaro, USNR, and two sisters, Mrs. Mark Anticevich and Mrs. William Kessel.
