Retired Steward At SF Emergency Dies
Last rites for William J. Heffernan, 89, retired San Francisco Emergency Hospital steward, were held today at St. Anselm’s church, San Anselmo.
Heffernan was a resident of Marin county for 26 years and had lived in California 59 years, after coming from his native Ireland. He had received a 50-year pin from the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, San Francisco, some years ago.
He is survived by four daughters – Mary J. Crawford, Elizabeth Rossine, Sarah A. Allen and Alice C. Cronin.
Services were held from the Guy Jenness & Co. chapel. Interment Holy Cross cemetery, San Francisco.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1948 from the chapel of Guy W. Jenness & Co., thence to St. Anselm’s Church where a requiem high mass was sung for the repose of his soul. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
