Mrs. Zoe Macorn Dies at Her Home in Ross

After an illness of more than a year, Mrs. Zoe Fairbanks Macorn, well known in civic and club activities in Marin and Sonoma counties, died Friday night at her home on Camino Buena drive, Ross.

Born in Petaluma, Mrs. Macorn had spent the greater part of her life in that city. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hiram T. Fairbanks. Her father came to California in 1849, and after engaging in mining, settled in Petaluma, where he was successful in banking.

Mrs. Macorn founded the Petaluma Woman’s Club, one of the best known clubs in the bay region. She also was instrumental in founding the Petaluma Humane Society, and when she removed to Marin County she became a director of the Marin County Humane Society.

She is survived by three sisters – Mrs. Dacia Fairbanks Rich and Mrs. H. B. Higbee of Petaluma, who have been with her constantly during her last illness, and Mrs. Belle Lacey of Colorado.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at 11 o’clock, at her late home in Ross.
