Miss Landon Dies While En Route From Europe

Miss Mary A. Landon of San Francisco, for many years a resident of Marin County, died Saturday morning in New York as she was returning from a trip to Europe. She was stricken with scarlet fever while crossing the Atlantic and passed away shortly after landing in New York.

Miss Landon had gone to Europe in June with her sister, Miss Helen Landon, and had spent the summer in study in the small French towns. It was her third trip to Europe.

She was a daughter of Mrs. Florence Landon and the late Dr. Warren H. Landon, president of the San Francisco Theological Seminary. Her girlhood days were spent in San Rafael and she graduated from the grammar school and the high school here. She was also a graduate of Mills College and was a teacher in the Balboa High School in San Francisco.

On account of her malady cremation took place immediately in New York.

In addition to her mother and sister, Miss Landon leaves a brother, Warren P. Landon, of San Anselmo, with whom Mrs. Landon had been staying while her daughters were in Europe.
