PATRICIA McGETTIGAN
Patricia Oliver Vallejo McGettigan, a teacher, actress and great-great-granddaughter of California pioneer General Mariano Vallejo, died Wednesday after a long illness. She was 54.
A native of San Francisco and a graduate of Convent of the Sacred Heart High School in San Francisco and the University of California at Berkeley, Ms. McGettigan was a teacher and tutor for 25 years.
She wrote a grammar school lesson plan about her famous ancestor and, in 1966, was invited to christen the Navy submarine Vallejo at Mare Island.
She was active in the San Francisco Repertory Theater and was known for her monologues of Noel Coward and Dorothy Parker. She helped organize fund-raising events for the Episcopal Sanctuary.
She is survived by her brother, Charles McGettigan, of San Francisco, and her sister, Molly Arthur, of Tiburon.
A memorial service will be held March 5 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary the Virgin Episcopal Church, 2325 Union St., San Francisco.
