Funeral Held For Vernon K. Shine
The death of Vernon Kenneth Shine at Ritter’s Sanatarium in Ross last Thursday from pneumonia was a sad blow to the popular boy’s hundreds of school friends and other acquaintances.
When his untimely death was announced his fellow pupils at the Larkspur-Corte Madera school lowered the flag to halfmast, draped their companion’s vacant desk with flowers and in other ways expressed their deep sorrow for the loss of one who had ever been a leader in their activities, and whose deeds and conduct were an inspiration to them.
The funeral was held Saturday, and the services at St. Anselm’s Church were attended in a body by Vernon’s school mates. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Shine, aged 17 years. In all school activities he was prominent, taking a natural position as leader.
