HELEN BENSON
Private services were held Saturday for Helen Benson, a 12-year San Rafael resident.
Mrs. Benson, 71, died unexpectedly at her home Thursday.
She moved to Marin from her native England with her husband of 52 years, Harry Benson of San Rafael. She was born in Wakefield, Yorkshire, and lived for many years in Walton-on-the-Thames, Surrey.
Her husband is a retired landscape gardener who worked for 10 years for Cagwin and Dorwin of San Rafael. Mrs. Benson was a housewife who gardened as a hobby.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Benson is survived by a son, George Benson of Mill Valley; a brother, Jack Appleby of England; and two sisters, Ada Furze and Edna Hall, both of England.
The family prefers memorial gifts to the Marin County Heart Fund.
