Gone To His Reward

The many Marin County people who visit the Chinese Shrimp Camp will miss a smiling face, for George Quan has passed to his reward.

George was born in San Francisco twenty-nine years ago. His father was Quan Hong and he had charge of the China Camp Store near Pt. San Pedro, for thirty-five years. He gave his two sons, Henry and George, all the advantages which his adopted land offered. They went to University of California and in 1917, with the Chinese Boys Band, they toured the United States and Canada.

But on the death of their father, it was necessary for them to give up all hopes of a career. With true Chinese devotion, they returned to take care of their mother, Yu See. They took charge of the store and built up a large wholesale and retail shrimp trade. Both boys married. George’s wife was Alice and two children were born to them, Georgette and Geneva.

But the fogs and the winds were too severe for George’s frail constitution and he succumbed to the same disease which had taken his father. The funeral will be held Sunday. The remains are at the Keaton and Dusel funeral parlors. Services will be held there. Interment will be made in San Francisco.
