GEORGE MIDDLETON

George E. Middleton, a long-time resident of San Rafael, died yesterday in San Rafael hospital after a lengthy illness. He was in his early 80s.

Born in San Francisco, Middleton moved to San Rafael in his youth, residing at 1320 Grand Avenue in the latter part of his life. He was connected at one time with an early motion picture studio in the Sun Valley section of San Rafael.

Middleton was president of the Ocean Shore Railroad Co., San Francisco, at the time of his death. The railroad once ran trains along the coast as far south as Santa Cruz but in recent years the firm had managed the former railroad right-of-way.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby Marie Gasberg Middleton.

Funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Keaton’s Mortuary, San Rafael. Entombment will be in Mount Tamalpais Cemetery.
