Santa Venetia Girl, 3, Found Drowned In Creek

Three-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Tollefson of Santa Venetia drowned in a creek behind her home last night.

The child, Randie Tollefson, was last seen in the yard of her home by her parents about 5:30 p.m. Parents noticed her missing about 20 minutes later and organized a search with the help of neighbors and sheriff’s deputies.

Neighbors John E. Berry and Stanley Makinson found her about 7 p.m. floating in the creek which runs behind the houses on Vendola drive. The Tollefsons lived at 131 Vendola drive.

Inhalators were sent by San Rafael Fire Department and by the Woodacre unit of the County Fire Department, but efforts to revive the girl failed.

Tollefson has been a deputy sheriff at the Marin City substation for the past year and is owner of the Tollefson Flying Service of Novato. They have two older children, Kurt, 10, and Heidi, 5.
