HAROLD ANDERSEN
Funeral for Harold Andersen, 80, father of San Rafael City Mgr. Dan. E. Andersen, was held yesterday in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The elder Andersen died a week ago today at his home in Copenhagen. He had been ill since suffering a stroke on a visit to his son’s home in San Rafael last April.
Andersen was born in Denmark, came to the United States as a young man to pursue a successful business career, and returned to make his home in his native land in 1958. He had been a frequent visitor at this son’s home since then.
After retirement as vice president of Piston Service Inc., an auto parts chain store operation in the Pacific Northwest, he moved to the San Francisco Peninsula, living in Woodside and Redwood City until his return to Denmark. During World War II, he emerged from retirement to work as a machinist in the war effort.
Besides his son, he leaves his wife, Valborg, who was with him when he died; a daughter, Mrs. Elsie Wood of Syosset, N.Y., and 10 grandchildren.
