Prominent Citizen Called By Death
Silvio H. Cheda passed away last Friday in an Oakland sanatorium, and Marin county lost in that sad event a man who could ill be spared.
Of unimpeachable integrity and unusual business ability, he was one of the leading men in the community. He was born in this county and comes of a highly respected pioneer family.
At the age of 30 years he established the Marin County Bank, and under his careful management the institution grew to be one of the most substantial concerns on the Pacific Coast.
Under his direction a reorganization of the bank was perfected, and he was made the head of the Marin County National Bank and the Marin County Savings Bank.
For the past six months he had been suffering from the effects of a stroke of paralysis which had incapacitated him. But up to the last moment he retained perfect control of the mental faculties to which he his remarkable success was due. He was 50 years of age.
The funeral was held Monday, and the large attendance was a slight token of the esteem in which the deceased was held by in the community of his life long activity. The funeral was conducted by the F. E. Sawyer Company. Services were held at the home on Mission street, Dr. Lynn T. White officiating.
He is survived by his son, Richard; V. J. B. Cheda and George Cheda, brothers, and Mrs. Filomena Sartori and Mrs. Iride Roman, sisters.
A valuable estate is left to the son.
