J. ORRIN TRETHEWEY
J. Orrin Trethewey of Petaluma died at a local hospital yesterday after a lengthy illness. He was 79.
Trethewey was a native of Marquette, Mich. He moved to Southern Sonoma County in 1969 after spending most of his life in Globe, Ariz., where operated a grocery company from 1933 to 1953. He later worked for the Inspiration Consolidated Copper Co. in Inspiration, Ariz., retiring in 1960 and moving to Tucson.
He was an Army veteran of World War I and a 50-year member of the White Mountain Lodge of the Free and Accepted Masons in Globe. Trethewey’s Petaluma home was at 300 Stony Point Road.
He is survived by his wife, Pauline Trethewey of Petaluma; two sons, John O. Trethewey Jr. of San Diego and Robert K. Trethewey of Houston, Tex.; two daughters, Mary Rose Brengle of San Rafael and Pauline MacDuffie of La Mirada; a brother, Harry Trethewey of Miami, Ariz., a sister, Rose Hewton of Loveland, Colo., nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Sorensen Funeral Home, with Rev. Richard McMillan of the Neighborhood Church of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, officiating.
Private burial will be in Cypress Hill Memorial Park.
