Funeral arrangements for Donald G. Davy, retired physician and public health official, were pending today at Russell and Gooch Mortuary in Mill Valley.

Davy, 79, was found dead Sunday at his Sausalito apartment at 30 El Portal by a friend. According to the coroner’s office, Davy’s doctor reported that he had a heart condition.

A native of San Jose, Davy lived in Sausalito for 12 years. Previously, he had lived in Lafayette and San Francisco.

He earned a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University in 1915 and a medical degree from Stanford in 1920. He also studied medicine at schools in Vienna and Edinburgh.

He first practiced medicine in San Francisco and then entered the public health field, working for the State Department of Public Health in Berkeley.

He was a member of Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

No closely related family members survive.
