SPARROW, Don, 68, of Novato, passed away November 29, 2001. Adobe Creek/ Cheda & Lyons, Petaluma, 707-789-9000.
Don Sparrow
Passed away at home on November 29, 2001 at the age of 68 years. He grew up in Avanel, California, and graduated Avanel High School in 1951. He then entered the Air Force because of his love of flying, serving four years. He continued flying private aircraft the rest of his life. Don moved to Novato in 1959, opening his first hair styling salon in Nave Shopping Center in 1960. In 1966, Don opened his third salon, Face Value, in Pacheco Plaza Shopping Center, where he worked with his family until his illness forced him to retire. During his 40 years as a hair stylist, Don won many prestigious hair styling competitions, including the California State Championship and the Marin County Hair Stylist of the Year Award three consecutive years. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Sparrow of Novato; his children, Jon Sparrow of Petaluma, Ronald Sparrow of Sebastopol, and Carrie Mengarelli of Petaluma; a brother, Gerald Sparrow of Petaluma; and he was the grandfather of three. Friends are invited to attend Memorial Services, Thursday, December 6, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at Valley Memorial Park Chapel, Bugeia Lane, Novato.
