McNALLY JR., Omar Edward, of Fairfax, passed away December 7, 2001. Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery-Mortuary, San Rafael, 415-459-2500.


Omar Edward McNally Jr., Retired Postmaster of Corte Madera
A lifelong resident of Marin County, Omar was born at the Ross Hospital in Kentfield, California on August 3, 1926 to Regina Clark and Omar McNally. Omar peacefully passed away at home in Fairfax with his family at his side on Friday, December 7, 2001 after a gallant struggle with cancer. His wife Martha McNally preceded him in death on December 20, 1996. He attended San Rafael schools, West End through San Rafael High School, graduating in 1944. Omar served aboard the USS Belleau Wood in the Pacific during WWII. He continued his service to the Marin communities for over 39 years in the U.S. Postal Service, retiring as Postmaster of Corte Madera. He was a past president of the Corte Madera Chamber of Commerce, also the 20/30 Club, and vice president of the California Postmaster's Association. Omar is survived by his father Omar McNally Sr. of San Rafael, his daughters Colleen McNally and Cathleen (Mike) Cook, his grandsons Cody and Casey and his sister, Sister Gene OP. He loved his family, his friends, and life in general. Friends are invited to attend a celebration of Omar's life on Saturday, December 15, 2001, 11:00 a.m. at Saint Rita's Catholic Church, 100 Marinda Drive, Fairfax, California. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Marin, 150 Nellen Drive, Corte Madera, CA 94925 or the American Cancer Society.
